La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche

Posted on: April 11th, 2016 by Olena 24 Comments

I have been using La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche as a day cream for over 3 months. It was more than enough to see all the pros and cons of this product and now I am ready to share my impressions with you :)

The package states that this moisturizer is for dry skin, but to my opinion it is good for the skin prone to dryness and also for dehydrated skin. In case your skin is very dry, Hydreane Extra Riche might be a better choice. But if your skin is like mine, which becomes dry/dehydrated only due to external factors like the change of weather, then La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche is great. It perfectly moisturizes and prevents dryness, leaving the skin comfortable all day long.

What I especially love about this moisturizer is its’ finish – the cream does not leave my skin shiny at all. It’s very important to me because when a moisturizer makes my skin look greasy, the makeup never lasts and foundation slides off in an hour. In this sense, La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche works great as a day cream. Such finish also makes the cream suitable for normal/combination skin type, as it does not feel heavy and sinks in very quickly.

Also, I’ve noticed one very interesting thing after about a month of using Hydreane Riche, which made this moisturizer pretty unique to me. My skin is sensitive and usually when I spend some time outside in cold and windy weather, in the evening my skin becomes tighter and tends to be slightly red when I wash my face. Although La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche neither soothed nor reduced redness, I feel like the cream made my skin stronger, because with time it stopped reacting on weather conditions. I resume Hydreane Riche repaired the skin’s barrier function that resulted in less sensitive skin. Moreover, now in spring when the temperature jumps from cold to warm all the time (usually it drives my sensitive skin crazy!), my skin still feels good and comfortable and that is pretty amazing :)

La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche contains very good antioxidants – Tocopherol (=Vitmain E) and Shea Butter. I think it’s always a benefit when a day product protects skin from the damage by free radicals.

However, if your skin is highly reactive to products, mind that Hydreane Riche contains Chlorhexidine Digluconate and Fragrance, both ingredients are potential irritants for hyper sensitive skin.

As for alcohol, Hydreane Riche contains Cetearyl Alcohol. But no worries, it is considered to be a good emollient, which neither causes irritation nor dries out the skin.

Conclusion

La Roche-Posay Hydreane Riche is a good basic moisturizer for anyone with sensitive and prone to dryness skin. I find it especially beneficial in winter-spring time. It can be also good for restoring skin after over-using drying products and be excellent for those who travel a lot and frequently experience the temperature/climate change.

The main benefits: hydration, reduction in skin sensitivity, antioxidant properties. Cons: absence of anti-aging ingredients and SPF.

I do recommend giving Hydreane Riche a try if you have any skin concerns mentioned above. It’s definitely a good value for the quality!

Oh my sister uses this moisturiser and she loves it! Now the more I hear about it the more tempted I am to give it a try. The fact that it doesn’t make your skin look shiny or greasy is a huge score! Thanks for sharing your honest review, dear!

I love how this product helped your skin to not react so badly to harsh weather conditions – it sounds like something I should have been using over this past winter haha!

I’ve actually never tried anything from Le Roche before, so I’m very happy to see this review. :) This seems like a good, basic moisturiser, and I’m glad it doesn’t leave the skin looking shiny – my skin is super oily, so I tend to go for oil-free, mattifying moisturisers. It seems like a particularly good product to use during colder months when the skin is more dried out and sensitive. x x Always enjoy reading your detailed reviews, hun, so thank you for sharing your honest thoughts with us. <3 Btw, I tagged you in the beauty lover tag… Read more »

I really need to give La Roche Posay another try. I’ve only tried one serum from the brand and wasn’t impressed by it and I never bother trying other products. This moisturizer sounds great for my skin. I have dry and dehydrated skin but not sensitive so this might work well for me.

This is such an informative post. I had a bad experience with La Roche Posay once but everyone else who ever talks about it loves it. Makes me wonder if I had a bad batch!? xx

I’m always on the hunt for new products. Currently loving the Vitamin E night cream but I’ve never tried anything from La Rosche Posay so I’ll keep my eye out!

This sounds great! I’ve never tried anything from this brand, but I’ve heard good things about it. Plus, I THINK I have skin that is prone to dryness (it’s definitely not suuuper dry so there’s that) so the hydrating qualities sound good. Although I don’t have sensitive skin as far as I can tell, it still sounds like it’d work well. Have to give this a look – thanks for the awesome review Olena!
