Garnier Micellar Water

Monthly Favorites February 2016 Garnier Micellar Water

OK, let’s start classic! After all, what’s a hit list without one of the most popular micellar waters on the market? :) I believe nothing beats Micellar Water by Garnier in terms of an affordable price + a huge bottle + pretty good quality!

The first time I tried Garnier micellar water was last year after I had already tried more expensive micellar waters by Bioderma and Vichy. And you know what? They all remove makeup the same good! The only difference (apart the price tag) is the following – Bioderma and Vichy literary feel like water on the skin, while Garnier does leave my skin a little bit sticky. However, this feeling is very individual and I’m sure many people might not even notice anything. Besides, it does not even go in comparison with a sticky film after micellar water by L’oreal (by the way, L’oreal micellar water also takes a bit longer to dissolve make up). To cut the story short, considering the price of Garnier I can easily close my eyes on this small “residue” issue.

Apart being good as a makeup remover, micellar water is my HG morning cleanser in cold weather when my skin is usually a bit dry, because this type of cleanser does not require rinsing. And you know, water (especially hard and hot) can be quite dehydrating for the skin. Also, micellar water is very comfortable to use on the neck when for example I am in pajamas, as no tap water goes under the collar :-*)

La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche

Monthly Favorites February 2016 La_Roche_Posay_Hydreane_Rich

Let me introduce you my winter skin savior – Hydreane Riche by La Roche Posay! :) This product became my go-to moisturizer when I was passing through a dehydrated/dry skin phase, which is basically a common story with me every January and February. Hydreane Riche was my first ever moisturizer by La Roche Posay and so far I’m impressed with it. I’d gladly try more products by this brand in the future!

There are 3 “Hydreane” versions available: extra riche (for very dry skin), riche (for dry skin) and light (for normal/combination skin). Frankly speaking, at first I was afraid that Hydreane Riche moisturizer would be a bit thick, but the texture happened to be just perfect for my skin. Although it is rich in terms of hydration, it does not feel heavy on the skin at all. It sinks in very quickly without any greasy finish, leaving my skin soft and comfortable. I use it mostly in the morning and my skin stays hydrated all day long.

Here is an important part! Hydreane line is specially formulated for sensitive skin. Though my skin can be sensitive at times, I would not say that it is highly sensitive or too reactive to products. But for those of you, whose skin is prone to allergies or getting irritated very easily, mind that this moisturizer is fragranced, so you better be careful about it. Otherwise, it is great for dry or dehydrated skin. I still keep using this moisturizer and I absolutely love it :)    (read the full review)

Cheeky Pimp My Plume Dry Shampoo

Monthly Favorites February 2016 cheeky-pimp-my-plume-dry-shampoo-

Cheeky Pimp My Plume Dry Shampoo is my new little treasure! I can’t even tell you how much I’m happy I’ve discovered it :)

I was converted to a dry shampoo a couple of years ago when it just started to experience a boom on the market. At that time it was mostly available in aerosol cans, so when I saw a dry shampoo in a talcum-like powder form, packed in a tub with a brush-on applicator (it was by Jonathan), it was something out of this world to me and obviously, I bought it! But unfortunately, the next time I wanted to repurchase it, I could not find it and went back to spray shampoos.

Luckily, last month I stumbled upon a cute tub by Cheeky and as it slightly reminded me the shampoo by Jonathan, I bought it without the second thought. If you still do not know, Cheeky is a relatively new brand that was launched about 2 years or so ago. It was represented as a little teen sister of Cowshed, as both brands are owned by the same company. In spite Cheeky is considered as a teen brand, trust me this shampoo is good for anyone’s hair. I am planning to make a review soon “Cheeky vs Batiste” with all the details about both products and the difference between powder and spray shampoos in general. So stay tuned! ;)

NYX The Skinny Mascara

Monthly Favorites February 2016 3 hits and 1 miss nyx the skinny mascara
The main concept of NYX The Skinny Mascara is to coat even the smallest lashes with its’ teeny-tiny brush. Well, it was surely the skinniest mascara brush I’ve ever seen in my life and I sincerely hoped it would work very well! But the disappointment didn’t keep me waiting for long :(

I gave this mascara many chances: used it alone, in multiple coats, before and after another mascara, played with it so many times and finally gave up. Even though it gives an even application and there is no clumping, no flaking and no smudging, it still does not noticeably define eyelashes. First, I do not like when mascara is not black enough and The Skinny does lack of black pigmentation; the color is more like dark charcoal rather than deep black if you know what I mean. Secondly, the brush still misses my tiniest bottom lashes :(

Probably if someone’s lashes are not very thin and sparse, the mascara might be OK (maybe?), but if you really suffer from sparse areas, you might be disappointed with NYX The Skinny mascara, as these areas will still look naked.

What are your recent hit and miss products? Any experience to share? ;)

Aww it’s too bad that the NYX mascara wasn’t that great! I felt that way about the Clinique Bottom Lash mascara.. it wasn’t horrible, but it just wasn’t that great if you wanted intense bottom lashes. I am also obsessed with the Garnier Micellar water. So good and affordable!

I agree about the Garnier Micellar water, I probably like the Bioderma one a tiny bit better, but I always get the Garnier one because it’s so much cheaper.

I’ve only ever tried Bioderma in terms of micellar water but I love it, I love that it just feels like water on my skin as well so I couldn’t imagine swapping to use another and having any kind of residue feeling or tacky feeling on my face. I will admit though the price of Bioderma stops me sometimes, I wish they would lower it!

I am going through an aweful dry skin phase right now. My usual faithful REN isn’t doing the trick sadly. I might have to look into Hydrene Riche!

Ohh, I thought the tiny weeny brush would work well on sparse lashes like mine, guess I’ll be giving it a miss. I adore Garnier Micellar water, I find it to be as good as my Bioderma but for a small fraction of the price.
